“Knock, knock.”
“Who’s there?”
“Life!”
Life will knock us all down. That is a guarantee. It is not a question of “if,” but rather “when.” When life’s fist lands upon our hearts, how will we respond? The magnitude of the blow varies, influenced by myriad factors—our resilience, our perspective, our very essence.
Take heart.
Though this knock may feel new to you, nothing that knocks us down is new to humanity. The stories of “been there, done that” reverberate across time. For the hard knocks, are essential to a holistic existence.
When life’s mighty hand thrusts you downward, sapping the breath right from under you, it forces you to the ground, to the dust from whence you came and whence you shall return. Grounding, life whispers. You need grounding.
Loss, that silent teacher, brings humility. It unveils the gains you have made – gains once vivid, now dulled by familiarity or complacency. But here’s the truth: no soul rises ungrounded from the fall. To do so would be to miss the lesson life would rather you learn.
And should you rise, wiser for the tumble, know this: life’s knocks are not a one-time affair. They revisit, like old friends with new tales. Yet each bruise, each ache, prepares you. Your spirit toughens, and hope renews.
So, take heart. Nothing that knocks us down is new to humanity.
